Hey folks...2010 is rounding the bend and heading for home quickly.
Its been the best musical year of my life with "Tall Texas Tales" being Euro top 10 then moving to #28 in the US Americana chart. I've played more gigs this past year than any other year of my life and seem to be getting somewhat of a foothold here in Texas even tho it was at the expense of canceling my 2010 Europe tour. All by fate's design. I'm considering keeping the ball rolling in the US in 2011 also, but I don't really want to think about missing seeing you guys in Europe two years in a row after touring every year over there for over a decade. Time will tell on that.
A manager pal of mine suggested an idea to make some Christmas money: offering lyrics to any of my songs handwritten and signed by me for $25 each. This seems to be going over well with his other artists, so I thought I'd put it out there and see if there are any takers. You can email me directly at cheeversongs@earthlink.net if ya are interested.
On musical fronts, I've been writing a bit here and there accumulating songs for the next project. With "Tall Texas Tales" having been such a Texas-specific album, I'm not thinking so specifically for this next one. I have six or eight keepers written recently plus some older songs that will fit into what I think will be a continued Southwestern theme. Because of "Tall Texas Tales" success and the fact that I live in Texas, it makes sense to continue this direction for a bit. High on my list of priorities, however, is getting around to doing what I think will be my masterpiece...a double CD of all my Old South and Civil War songs titled "Southern Heart". Those songs have been written and gathering dust for a couple decades, and I want to make that record before the world comes to an end. And no, I don't have any inside information on when that might happen.
Meanwhile, the holidays are screaming down the pike toward us, and I hope they are wonderful for us all and that we get to see each other soon and catch up face to face. I miss ya.
Ciao, Bob
